The Dark Knight Review

The Dark Knight is, simply put, an amazing feat of filmmaking. Consider this the “thesis” of this post.
I don’t intend to go into too much detail with this post, but there will be a a spoiler section below (be forewarned).
This continuation of Chris Nolan’s Batman trilogy begins where Batman Begins left us off. Although Batman Begins was great, The Dark Knight is widely considered one of the best movies in years.
Fans of action (unless they have already braved the lines) will be pleasantly rewarded with absolutely insane sequences. An I mean scenes that leave you in shock and awe. It’s most definitely worth shoveling over the $8 to the theatres. In contrast, the theatre would have to pay me the $8 to go and see Space Chimps, which was generally considered to be rotten.
The Selected Cast
In Heath Ledger’s last ever role in a movie, he delivers the finest performance that he’s ever done. The Joker is so realistic that it was almost disturbing. If I was a kid, I would definitely pee my pants at just the mere sight of the Joker, let alone his creepy mannerisms and dialog.
Christian Bale definitely has his version of Batman cemented as one of the better portrayals of the Dark Knight. His alternate persona of Bruce Wayne is just as entertaining to watch as the parts with Batman in them.
Maggie Gylenahal plays Rachel Dawes, Bruce Wayne’s childhood friend, so well, the audience can’t tell between her and Katie Holmes, who played Rachel in Batman Begins.
Spoiler alert! Spoiler alert!
The following section deals with events that happen in the film.
Batman 3
What does the future hold for Batman? Here are the possibilities with what I understand:
- Two-face returns as the major villain. He may not have died, it may have been a cover up to protect his image.
- Joker is still not dead. The actor is, but the villain is not. I wonder how Chris Nolan will play this out.
- Batman is now being actively searched for by the authorities; will Chris Nolan let Batman reveal his identity to Gotham?
- Please no Robin, Mr. Freeze, or Catwoman. The Riddler and Penguin have a lot more potential in this darker series.
Concluding Notes
All in all, this was a stellar job by all: Directors, Writers, Actors and everyone involved. I give it a 5/5 for reigniting my love of action flicks.
Commenting is back, along with a refinement of the previous, but short lived, template.
A few full-length articles are on their way. Hang tight!
I’m in novelty heaven.
Excuse the Mess
Everything will be back online and functional in the next few days.
Happy 141st Birthday Canada! Woot! (Even though you make us mad sometimes.)
Peace & Love
Ringo was recently asked by Access Hollywood what he hoped to receive for his upcoming birthday (July 7th). Ringo’s answer was unconventional, he said, “just more Peace & Love.” Then he expanded his wish further, “it would be really cool if everyone, everywhere, wherever they are, at noon on July 7 make the peace sign and say “Peace & Love.”
Someone should make a mini-site for this. Cough.
